A Day at Stockton

First in our "Day at" Series

For this video we decided to take a new approach, to take our cameras trackside and film as much as we could in a single day. We chose Stockton, California because it is a real hot spot for train watching, with trains coming through literally every few minutes during peak times.

The freight trains are long and many of them use up every bit of the 60 mph speed limit on the Union Pacific main. Others slow to a crawl as they head into Union Pacific's East Yard or BNSF's Mormon Yard. This area sees quite a bit of passenger traffic, too, with trains from Amtrak California and the Altamont Commuter Express.

Each train is shown in its entirety, just as if you were there with us trackside. It's like a full day of railfanning, only without the waiting around between trains and sunburn!
